It is a smooth cruise and all goes well. The scenery and water are gorgeous. Another great day to be on the water!
As we spot the Killarney’s lighthouse off our bow, we spot this off our stern.
The arrival timing is perfect. As the front rolls in, we escape into the protected cove. The welcome sign greets us as we head toward our slip at the Killarney Mountain Resort.
Killarney Mountain Lodge is a full service resort on the shore of the northern Georgian Bay in the heart of the Ontario wilderness. Their motto: “Where rustic simplicity meets refined elegance”. With multiple lodging choices and restaurants, along with a conference center and numerous outdoor activities, they have become a mecca for hosting events ranging from family vacations to conference retreats to festive wedding celebrations. On this particular weekend, they are hosting several weddings.
Despite all these amenities, the best one is right on our dock!
We hike the resort’s Lighthouse Trail which surprisingly leads to… the lighthouse!
The trail is a level one, we were told. 🤔 The pink granite rocks that are so prevalent in this area are also in abundance on the hiking path. The walk is easy; the rock climbing is a little more challenging. With a recent broken ankle, I take it slow, but manage to complete the trek. The views along the way were well the effort!
We also explored by dinghy with Scot and Sue (Restless Soul). Dinghy’s are great as you can explore closer to shore, even beaching them to venture into isolated areas by foot. This is the first stop we have made in which we miss our small dinghy. Very appreciative to have been invited along for their ride.
While our days are full with adventures outside, our nights are adventurous too! Canadians really do not follow football…AT ALL! They love their hockey and their Blue Jays, but OSU buckeyes…not so much, eh? It took some doing, but we found a bartender willing to broadcast it.
We also enjoy dinner at the resort . Food was good, views were amazing and the company the best!
And what would a resort called Killarney be without some late night entertainment??
We had a wonderful time in Kilarney. A special thanks to Captain Scot and First Mate Sue for your friendship and generosity. Next adventure will be into the North Channel.
WOW!
So jealous, beautiful country you are seeing first hand. Places I’ll never get to so thanks for sharing pictures.
