Our water route today will take us across Lake St. Clair, up the St. Clair River and into the North Channel. We will head into the Algonac City Harbor. We plan to stay a few days as the weather forecast does not look promising after today.
In just over two hours, we arrive to Algonac Harbour Club Marina. Special thanks to Harbor Master Alex, at Grosse Point Yacht Club, for help in securing a slip. As it is a Saturday, the marina is full and we are assigned to a slip at the seasonal overflow area.
The marina is quite full this busy Saturday. They have a boat club rendezvous in attendance and the tailgating is in full swing.
Since we are in the “overflow” section, we are docked beyond the storage warehouses and away from all the action. Good or bad, I’m still not sure. 🤔
Docked in the slip next to us, 408, is this gem.
Algonac has a restaurant (bar) on site. Saturday night we have, of course, fried perch and chips. It was a fun time meeting locals, listening to the band, and people watching. Since the marina is close to Kroger and West Marine, we take advantage of the shopping. The marina also has a pool and pickleball courts.
The next few days are stormy and rainy. We catch up on laundry and groceries. The weekend crowd leaves. The marina is deserted for the most part.
A storm comes in and we experience heavy rain and high winds. The electric flutters for a bit, but all is well.
Searching for that perfect Canadian flag flying in a light breeze, we settle on Wednesday as our departure day. Next stop: Sarnia, Canada,
Those are beautiful pictures!!!
Thanks Alma!
