Today’s journey was a quick one – 50 miles to Sandusky.We do a “drive by” the homestead and head west.I think this is the smoothest we have ever seen Lake Erie! 🤗It is a beautiful day as we arrive to Cedar Point, Sandusky’s number one tourist attraction. We have boated from Cedar Point for years with Crazy 8. Memories beckon and we decide to anchor off the Cedar Point shore for a while and have lunch. It is a hot day and Captain Tom takes advantage of the shallow water near shore and scrubs the hull. Not too dirty, but the hydraulic leak from the Erie Canal did give us a scruffy beard. I also get in for a bit, but with the water at 74 degrees, my bit was a little bit! 🥶We are not anchored alone for long on this beautiful Friday afternoon.Since we do not have the kids with us anymore and the Top Thrill Dragster is not running this season 😉, we opt to stay at the Paper District Marina, which is the city dock of Sandusky. We were pleasantly surprised by Sandusky. It is no longer just Cedar Point’s home. It is now home to quaint boutiques, nice restaurants, variety of bars, several parks, new downtown residences, and many summer outdoor events. It is definitely a city moving forward.One of our best finds was just next door! They had great live music on both Friday and Saturday nights.Perhaps the only bad experience while at Sandusky was the weather. We had a nasty storm roll in on Saturday around 6PM.We HAD dinner reservations at 7PM… looks like the Prime 11 galley will be opening instead. The sun finally came out to say goodnight and we head next door to the Barrel House Saloon. Tonight a country music band plays.
We had a nice two days in Sandusky. Cedar Point definitely brought back memories of past times. The new rollercoasters of our time are retired and the skyline of the park is now unrecognizable to us. Time brings change, whether we like it or not. Tomorrow we will change our address again and take the VERY short trip to Kelley’s Island.
