Because of the all day rain and wind conditions on Friday, we stayed in Southport until Saturday. Our trip will be a short one today, about 22 miles.
By waiting until Saturday, we broke one of our cardinal boating rules, which is, don’t travel on weekends, ESPECIALLY holiday weekends. Everyone and their friend, brother, sister, neighbor, mom, dad, fourth cousin and their dog find a boat and venture onto the water. Many do not know what they are doing and when you multiple that many times, it is not only crazy, but dangerous.
We make it without any further incidents, although the Captain’s nerves are a bit frayed. We arrive to Bradley Creek Yacht Club. With over 100 boats, in and out of their dry rack storage facility, it is crazy here too!
Appropriately, this weekend we saw many flags flying to honor those brave women and men who served our country and gave the ultimate sacrifice. It is sad that this weekend they weren’t flying high in the sky with pride, but instead looked defeated, as our country mourns the loss of innocent children whose lives were taken from them before they even had a chance to live it.
We hope everyone had a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend with family and friends, sharing an extra hug and I love you to all those around you.
Next stop is Beaufort, NC.
