It will be a long journey of 85 miles through the ICW to Southport, where we are planning to stay one night.
Since we have such a long day, we leave bright and early.
The route will take us pass varied sights.
We finally arrive to Southport Marina late in the afternoon. The docks are all new as is the clubhouse area.
The marina is in the process of rebuilding, so many docks are yet to be built.
On August 4, 2020, Hurricane Isaias destroyed Southport Marina. Even though it was just a category one, the storm surge did quite a number on them.
It seems the rest of Southport was spared from this massive amount of damage. Southport is a cute little town with a beachy vibe.
It was a quick visit to this small Carolina coastal town. Tomorrow we plan to move on before the memorial weekend hits.
We used to go to Bald Head Island. Worth a stop if you have time. Enjoy your adventure!
Thanks Maura! Will be heading home soon. How about dinner one night to catch up?
Yes! Miss you guys.
Thanks for putting us back on for the completion of your journey. Will be following along. Love your pics. Russ Rogge.
Thanks Russ!
