As we arrive into the inlet at Reefpoint Marina in Racine, the visibility has improved, but clouds remain.
Reefpoint Marina is another large marina with 921 slips. They have all the amenities you could ask for…heated pool, 2 hot tubs, laundry room, restaurant on site, walking distance of downtown Racine, and even a pizza and ice delivery service directly to your boat! It is the weekend prior to the Fourth of July, so the marina is bustling with boaters and visitors.
Racine is a small town, population approximately 77,000, but it has left a big impact on all our lives. It is the headquarters of S.C. Johnson (cleaning supplies) and J.I. Case (heavy equipment). It also claims inventions such as malted milk, the blender, the blow dryer, the vacuum cleaner and the garbage disposal. The hometown product we love the most is their Kringle. The famous Kringle and Wisconsin’s Spotted Cow were both welcomed aboard for our very first Wisconsin 4th!
On the perimeter of the marina is a wonderful walking path along the water that leads to the Racine Overlook. On a clear day, the views are just magnificent!
Luck has us in Racine for Fourth of July, home of the longest 4th of July parade in Wisconsin. We can vouch for its longevity. We arrived at 8:30, but after 2 1/2 hours sitting on a concrete sidewalk in the sun, we bailed. They had over 110 entries. We stuck it out for about 90. Not bad!
We had a wonderful small town midwestern Fourth of July, made even more special by a short visit from our son and his girlfriend. We spent the visit inside the salon unfortunately as a pop up downpour and thunderstorm rolled in. I suppose Mother Nature wanted to display her fireworks too!
On to Port Washington! Seems appropriate after our 4th celebrations!😉
These photos were so enjoyable as well as the historical and current vibes on Racine.
Glad you saw most of the parade and then went for refreshment. Crazy new tractor design! highlights truly were seeing family. Kringle and spotted cow treats sounds wonderful too. Thanks again for keeping us posted. Happy days in Wisconsin.
Thank you! We are enjoying our travels tremendously!
We love Racine also. We are heading back south from Door County WI. A must see on any looper itinerary. Maybe we’ll cross wakes near Manitowoc. Another fun and historical port
We will be in Manitowoc tomorrow and Tuesday. Will we see you then?
What a great Fourth of July and beautiful fireworks before your departure! FYI, if you’re needing a Kringle in Cincinnati, Trader Joe’s stocks them seasonally! I agree, hard to resist! Delicious!
