Before long, we are at the entrance of the Grand River leading us into Grand Haven.
As it is a great weekend, we decide to spend a few days exploring Grand Haven. We pass by our future winter home for Prime 11 as we head to the Grand Haven Yacht Club.
The yacht club members are very friendly as they are enjoying likely one of the last few nice weather weekends 2022 will offer. It is definitely a party atmosphere and they come prepared with bonfires, grills, water toys, etc.
We spend two days exploring the quaint downtown, walking to the lighthouses, and just enjoying the beautiful fall weather.
There are no railings on the pier and when the waves are rough, the pier is a very dangerous place to be. Today was calm and beautiful, but that is not always the case. Since 1891, 50 people have died as a result of rip currents or being washed off the pier.
Our last and final trek is just a mile or so down the Grand River to the North Shore Marina.
While at North Shore Marina, we rent a car, buy necessary supplies to change the oil and fluids, clean everything and load the rental car with all our “stuff” to bring back home. It is an exhausting couple of days!
While we hate to see our boating adventures stop, we realize the weather window is closing quickly and how lucky we were to eek out these last few weeks taking us into October. The current lake forecast is definitely not conducive to pleasurable cruising!
This will be our final post until next year when we will start Prime 11 up again! We have come a long way since February and Prime 11 deserves a rest, and I think we do too! Looking forward to the little comforts home offers, like a washer and dryer all my own, a grocery trip in which I can buy whatever and not worry about carrying it for a mile, a hot bath, a garbage disposal, and some different clothes! 🤣
Loved getting to experience your many adventures along the way. Thank you for sharing!
