Our route this day is a whopping 165 miles as we cross Lake Huron and head into the Georgian Bay!<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Using the latest forecast, a weather window appears to open today for a “doable” crossing of Lake Huron. The past few windy days have been fueling the high wave action, keeping all pleasure crafts off the lake. The wind is forecasted to change direction late morning and quell those swells! \ud83c\udf0a<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 9:30 am, we cast off and head into Lake Huron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We pass under the Blue Water Bridge which spans the St. Clair River connecting Port Huron, Michigan to Sarnia, Ontario.<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We also pass the Fort Gratiot Lighthouse at Port Huron, established in 1825. Standing at 86 feet and overlooking Lake Huron at the mouth of the St. Clair River, it is the 1st lighthouse ever built on Lake Huron and also the oldest surviving one operating in Michigan.<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We head out of the St. Clair River into a very choppy Lake Huron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
