Not many of the ferries are running yet so the New York Harbor is relatively calm. The giant sculpture, named Water Soul, depicts a young woman holding a finger to lips in a quiet state of meditation.  Confusing the Jersey City residents is the fact that it is facing the Hudson River and Manhattan, so their view is the back of her head.  Some speculate it is a message to NYC to &#8220;pipe down&#8221;. Little Island opened in May of 2021 after 5 years of construction.  The park was a gift by <em>billionaire <\/em>Barry Diller who invested 260 million dollars to create a whimsical oasis for all New Yorkers to enjoy.  Interesting fact is the designer of the park, <strong>Thomas Heatherwick<\/strong>, also created the Vessel.  The park consists of landscaped lawns, 687 amphitheater, and a central &#8220;play ground&#8221; for food and beverages. From one angle it is a giant pyramid, but from another it looks like a giant sail going down the Hudson River.  The hole within it, leads to a courtyard below that has the same proportions as Central Park, just 13,000th the size.  The building is mainly residential with a style described as &#8220;Scandimerican&#8221;.<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Further down the Hudson, we encounter the first bridge to cross over from New Jersey to New York. It is hard to tell from the photo, but it is a double decker bridge. This bridge is the world&#8217;s busiest motor vehicle bridge. This is the Tappan Zee Bridge. It is a twin cable bridge and connects Nyack, NY to Tarrytown, NY. We opt to walk to the Apple Farm Grocery Store and cook on the boat.  Since the walk is over 1 mile of hilly terrain in 90+ temperatures, we choose wisely our purchases.  We had planned to stay for two nights and explore the wonderful bike paths in this area, however, there were two problems with our plan. One, rain is forecasted tomorrow. Two, the bike rental place is closed on Monday.
