We will travel up the Mississippi River to Port Charles Marina.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Port Charles Marina has the reputation of employing qualified and knowledgeable marine mechanics.  They also possess a 60 ton travel lift. The current is strong against us and the debris plentiful. We find ourselves homeless now on this hot humid 95 degree day. The route takes along rough roads through farms and fields. The true mileage might be shorter, but today some roads are flooded detouring us along our way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>St. Charles lies on the <strong>Missouri River<\/strong>.  With all these rivers, it gets quite confusing as to where we are at times.  A map always helps!<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"717\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/cincinnatiprime11.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Mississippi_watershed_map_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2369\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cincinnatiprime11.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Mississippi_watershed_map_1.jpg 717w, https:\/\/cincinnatiprime11.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Mississippi_watershed_map_1-300x236.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 717px) 100vw, 717px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">We started our inland waterways on the Illinois River from Lake Michigan. At Grafton,  the Illinois River ended and the Mississippi River began.  We went up the Mississippi, just a bit, to Port Charles Marina and then drove a car to St. Charles, MO, which lies on the Missouri River. The Missouri also empties into the Mississippi.  We haven&#8217;t navigated that confluence yet, so interestingly,  we see the Missouri River first by car. We will exit the Mississippi River at the Ohio River junction.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>St. Charles, with a population of 70,000+ people, is the 9th largest city in the state of Missouri.  It was the first state capital of Missouri, holding that title from 1821-1826.
